2016 is officially underway and we are pleased to see new campers enrolling and many campers returning!
We are kicking off our new year with a focus on Courtney Bent, an award winning documentary filmmaker who has been director of our media department since we started in 2011. Courtney comes to us every summer from New Hampshire along with her children, Lucas and Harley.
Courtney has been currently working on the 100 Cameras Project, a national initiative inspired by her award-winning documentary, Shooting Beauty. The goal of the 100 Camera Project is to help people with intellectual and developmental disabilities express themselves through photography. The 100 Cameras Project puts modified camera systems into the hands of people with disabilities throughout the U.S.
This past year Courtney adapted camera systems for over 80 individuals with disabilities and provided them with their cameras and a two day photography workshop at no cost. She recently returned from teaching workshops in Santa Cruz, CA and Naples, FL. For more info, you can visit her website: http://www.shootingbeauty.org
This summer Courtney will be teaching Digital Photo, Action Film Adventure and Mockumentary.
Every day it’s getting lighter and there are now 172 days remaining until Summer Arts begins!
